day three of mercedes-benz fashion week berlin kicked off at an off-event at the beautiful kronprinzenpalais. nobi talai chose a quiet, serene installation (pictured above) to present her delicate new collection, layering white, mellow blue, and sandy bronze softness. most delicate!

next up was annelie schubert at the central tent . the newcomer’s small collection was distinctly remote and almost entirely shied away from colors, with an unfortunately sleepy cast of models unable to add a desperatly needed spark. however, her courageous cuts are hinting at some serious talent – as recognized recently by means of the “première vision award” miss schubert has raked in.

for the first time ever, the second stage was hosted by art gallery me collector’s room. the steinrohner installation there stated promising with some splashy designs, but ended in a creative desaster when a backstage call went wrong and the models left their positions after less than ten minutes, with several styles basically unseen by large parts of the crowd. a missed chance for the designer duo!

back at the tent (ground was easily covered by a big shuttle bus) dimitri blew the roof off with his megalomaniac, hypersensual revitalization of the southern-cal boho style: game cowboy gear, thick bangles, fringes aplenty. the show was topped by a separte beach wear collection, a collaborative effort with uhlala. bang!

the kaseee mini runway show at the second stage was outright awful, with a few nice and clean, easily marketable male styles delivering the only bright spots.

the final show at the main tent was “impuls_03”, the massive graduates extravaganza of htw berlin – by far the college’s finest delivery ever! spread across 45 minutes net (!), the students’ mini collections were diverse, daring, rich in texture and conceptualization, and, taken in altogether, perfectly exciting. what a way to put the finishing touch on this diverting day at mercedes-benz fashion week berlin!
