this past summer, we had the utmost pleasure to travel along the great river road through illinois in search of the united states’ hidden heart. we found it in many places across the state, which has so much more to offer than the fantastic city of chicago. after a trip downtown and a visit to the former illinois national guard armory, we stopped by the atwood building. like the armory, this is a stop on the upcoming rockford fan trail of local legends and 2016 rock & roll hall of fame inductees cheap trick, who used one of its rooms as a rehearsal space. while we are still trying to get ahold of more information on the building’s history, these are our favorite shots from this beauty on north main street…
