yeah, so this really isn’t berlin.
we had a meeting with the amsterdam economic board today and agreed on working together right away. for the launch of a new subsite on iamsterdam.com (which serves as a ridiculously well edited tourist guide as well!), i will interview young professionals from all kinds of economic areas the city boasts. this will also take me around amsterdam, too, and introduce me to a range of people, from the financial district’s white-collar workhorses to the creative entrepreneurs of my beloved amsterdam noord.
naturally, this needs to be properly celebrated, so i wil be headed out tonite to bitterzoet where my buddy arnold aka the hipster killer will dj the night away. part of his genius lies in picking what are clearly the best event pictures in the history of the universe. you can find tonite’s example here.
oh, one more gem i came across yesterday: pop-up store jan eef features pretty local design products from wooden sunglasses to surprisingly affordable organic shirts to super-colorful soaps. i particularly loved this cupboard:
originally scheduled to go out of business, the store (which also features a mini-café) might get a second life, as the owners meet this weekend to discuss the future. i shall keep you posted.
ps seeing dark horses tomorrow night at the kelder of paradiso – my first of what should become many visits to one of amsterdam’s best concert locations!
